The parent organization of the CID / NMRA is the National Model Railroad Association, which has a headquarters near Chattanooga, TN.  This body supports model railroaders around the globe, and has since the early 1900s.  The group is divided into divisions and regions . . . . the Central Indiana Division is part of the Midwest Region ( link to the MWR website).  NMRA regions host regular events and conventions; the 2020 MWR Convention will be held in Peoria, IL in May 2020. ( LINK ).

The NMRA has an impressive website, which outlines the many educational and social events.  For instance, the AP program allows modelers to be recognized for their service, craftsmanship, artistic work, and modeling skill.  The national group also works with manufacturers to insure that standards are maintained across products and systems.

One highlight of the annual calendar is the NMRA Convention and National Train Show.  The CID hosted the 2016 event ( Highball To Indy 2016 ), in Indianapolis.  The 2020 event will be held in St. Louis, MO in July, 2020 ( LINK ).  The 2020 National Train Show will also be in St. Louis.

Plan to attend NMRA shows, educational programs, and convention when possible!
